Supporting education leaders and teachers in the Kampong Speu Provence of Cambodia to increase the participation of their students in education.

About

Education Cambodia Incorporated is a voluntary, not-for-profit, non-government organisation that has been established to address poverty in Cambodia by increasing participation in schooling in that country.  It does this through the provision of professional learning for teachers and educational leaders, quality assurance of projects and assistance for and advice about educational infrastructure and education materials.

Project

Education Cambodia Incorporated grew from a need from the wider community to become involved in the Angkor Project.  This Project, which began in 2006, with a MOU between the governments of Western Australia and Cambodia, has the motto of "Children Helping Children".  Children in Western Australia government schools raise funds for their sister schools in Cambodia, to assist in rebuilding education in that country.

Each year in January members of Education Cambodia Incorporated travel to the Kampong Speu Province of Cambodia to deliver professional learning to the Directors of schools and teachers of the sister schools.  Education Cambodia Incorporated has planned and funded these conferences since January 2013.

Leaders' and Teachers' Conferences

Education Cambodia Incorporated provides the quality assurance process for the goods and services that have been purchased through funds raised by Western Australian school children through the Angkor Project.  Quality assurance visits to the sister schools in Cambodia occur in January and July each year. The pictures above show some of the work of the Angkor Project.

The Angkor Project found that some students, particulary girls, did not attend school as there were not enough toilets or drinking water.  Through the Angkor Project sister schools, Western Australian school students have raised funds to provide for toilets, drinking fountains, water tanks and infrastructure to ensure there are adequate toilets and drinking water.  Education Cambodia Incorporated inspects the projects to ensure quality and value for money.
